4-8 Verse

Upper Grades Morning Verse
I look into the world
Wherein there shines the sun
Wherein there gleam the stars
Wherein there lie the stones.
The plants they live and grow
The beasts they feel and live
And humankind to spirit gives
A dwelling in the soul.
I look into the soul
That living dwells in me
The world spirit weaves
In sunlight and in soul light
In heights of worlds without
In depths of soul within.
To thee oh world
I seeking turn myself
That strength and grace and skill
For learning and for work
In me may live and grow.

INDIA - Creating a Mithila-style painting

I love the Asian Art Museum in SF - it has great resources for teachers too! I'm planning on signing up for this class on creating a Mithila style painting. The link also has downloads for activity sheets, story/legend of Krishna and a powerpoint on how to create a Mithila painting.

Egyptian Shaduf

My friend had an entire curriculum for 5th, from the Qatar institute, on creating different ancient inventions. It has disappeared from the internet and from their site and the new director
doesn’t know about it. Such a bummer - but I did find this part about creating An Egyptian shaduf. She also has a great interactive curric for teaching Islam in 6th!!

Rope Trick - How to!

We've been doing this for circle once a week. The children have NOT been able to figure it out. I gave them a hint that it has to do with your hands. I finally had to look up the solution. I'll give them the next hint next week.

We've also been jump roping once a week and doing hula hoop once a week - great exercise - and outside!
